Michael Simonetta receives IFPA ANZ lifetime membership

The International Fresh Produce Association Australia-New Zealand (IFPA ANZ) has awarded its first Lifetime Membership to Michael Simonetta, CEO of Perfection Fresh Australia, in recognition of his long-standing involvement and contributions to the fresh produce and floral sector.

The award was presented during the IFPA ANZ Diamond-Platinum Executive Dinner held in Sydney on 30 April. It was introduced by IFPA ANZ chair Dean Gall and presented by incoming IFPA Global chair Patrick Vizzone.

Simonetta has been a member of IFPA, previously known as the Produce Marketing Association, since 1988. He has served two terms as chair of the ANZ board and played a role in developing the organisation's activities in the region. During his time with the association, IFPA ANZ has expanded its presence in the produce industry, which is now valued at approximately $24 billion across Australia and New Zealand.

According to Vizzone, Simonetta has supported efforts to open new markets and encourage cooperation across sectors. His involvement has extended across growers, suppliers, and retailers. During the event, messages acknowledging Simonetta's industry contributions were shared by IFPA Global CEO Cathy Burns and David Marguleas, executive chair of Sun World International.

Simonetta is set to retire as CEO of Perfection Fresh on 30 June but will continue to serve on the company's board. He attended the event with his wife, Maryann, and sons James and Anthony. In a brief statement, Simonetta expressed appreciation for the recognition and noted the role the organisation has played in his professional development.

The Simonetta family's involvement in the industry continues, with John Simonetta recently appointed to the IFPA ANZ Board. The award recognises both an individual's career and a broader family connection to the fresh produce sector.
